Stephen Goe, president of SDA, works with every client to understand your design needs and to select the materials that best match your budget, intended usage, and aesthetic. Unlike many other firms, SDA works on a fixed fee that eliminates the incentive of a percentage-based fee to inflate the costs on a project that allows this firm to represent their client in an impartial manner.
Stephen Goe, president of SDA, began in the early 90’s with an architectural woodworking shop and expanded into the role of general contractor upon the request of a client to complete a 2,000 square foot pre-war gut renovation in Greenwich village. Within a few short years, SDA had become the go-to GC for high-end gut renovations in New York City and the tristate area. As part of Goe’s ethos to only take on a project when he can do so with unwavering dedication to produce the most high-quality finished project, SDA declined the role as GC for a 5,000 square foot residence in the upper east side while completing a 4,000 square foot gut renovation next door. Instead SDA assumed the role as construction manager. His meticulous approach to every project led to the continued expansion of SDA to owner’s representative and design + build wherein Goe helps each client to crystalize their vision to create their dream home. SDA now operates a highly specialized team of thirty and has had the privilege of working is a variety of prestigious buildings throughout New York City.

Superior Design Associates offers an, all inclusive, A-Z luxury design-build service. We excel at working to understand the nuances of your wants, needs and expectations, to build the perfect home for you. We will create everything from a thumbnail sketch to complete sets of Architectural drawings to understand and make sure your project is exactly what you dreamed and imagined it would be. As a one source single responsibility, we eliminate the stress, confusion and conflict between the two entities of design + build to create a more a harmonious relationship for your project. Most importantly we will deliver, to you, your project on time, on budget, to your expectations, with the highest quality craftsmanship.
OWNER’S REPRESENTATIVE &
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
As an owner you may decide for your project you do not want to be personally involved in the day to day of creating or managing your project. In this case, we will do it for you. We will create budgets, find the right architect, interior designers, tradesman, craftsman and contractors. We then manage them as if we were the owners. We also can take over payments for all trades for the project, we monitor your concerns, the day to day design decisions, interior design decisions, product selections and owner in proxy. There are extensive daily briefings with the owner to discuss the progress of the project. We take all of the stress out of your project.
GENERAL CONTRACTOR
Working with interior designers and architects, President Stephen Goe of Superior Design Associates (SDA) is your General Contractor. He will oversee all of the trades and craftsman to ensure they deliver meticulously completed installations on time for the project. He will work with your architects and designers to create the home of your dreams. Once the construction drawings are completed by the architect/design professional, SDA will provide you with a bid including a detailed scope of work for your approval. SDA, as your general contractor, will also provide you with a construction timeline that includes a schedule of benchmark meetings to discuss with you the details and progress of your project. We guarantee every detail is built with quality craftsmanship to the construction drawings. All trades, subcontractors, and vendors are controlled by SDA.
Inclusive Millwork
While some custom millwork shop’s cap their finishes at lacquer, Superior Design Associates consider this a starting point. From crown moldings to kitchens and libraries, we produce high quality millwork that is both lustrous durable. We use premium techniques such as sprayed polyester and converted varnish to create beautiful detail finishes. SDA creates hand crafted pieces custom detailed to each project, never replicating or restoring. Every piece of exotic wood either crafted for a single installation, or covering a 4,000-square foot apartment, is equally detailed in design and quality craftsmanship.
